The Hong Kong Observatory issued an Amber Rainstorm Warning at 11:35 am today (April 29), with particularly heavy rain falling on Hong Kong Island. At around 12:14 pm, police received a report from a taxi driver stating that while driving with passengers near a construction site outside Ming Wah Dai Ha on A Kung Ngam Road in Shau Kei Wan, the taxi encountered flooding and road subsidence, causing the vehicle to stall and become trapped in the water.

As seen in footage circulating online, more than half of the taxi's body was submerged in water, with large amounts of muddy water pouring into the cabin. Two passengers carefully exited through the left rear door, using umbrellas as they waded through the water to safety. The male taxi driver, after opening his door, stood on the door sill awaiting rescue. According to reports, firefighters arrived shortly after the police were notified and rescued him from the dangerous situation. Initially, no injuries were reported.
