The Hong Kong Observatory said a cold front is bringing showers and thunderstorms to the inland areas of Guangdong. Temperatures there this morning (April 23) are generally 5 to 7 degrees lower than yesterday. The cold front is now moving gradually southward and is expected to cross the coastal areas this afternoon. Under the influence of the subsequent northeast monsoon, temperatures in Hong Kong will gradually fall to around 23 degrees by midnight.

The Observatory indicated that temperatures in Hong Kong will hover around 27 degrees in the early part of today. Light southerly winds will gradually turn northerly, with showers increasing and a few squally thunderstorms. Affected by an upper-level disturbance, rainfall will become heavier tomorrow (April 24). The minimum temperature in urban areas will be around 20 degrees, and will be one or two degrees lower in the New Territories. Members of the public should be aware of the unstable weather and significant temperature drop today and tomorrow.
