At 8:30 am today (April 21), the Hong Kong Observatory recorded a temperature of 26.2°C and a relative humidity of 86%. A southerly airstream is affecting the coastal areas of Guangdong, while showers and thunderstorms associated with an upper-level disturbance are also impacting the region. This morning, over 20 millimetres of rainfall was recorded in eastern Hong Kong Island and Tseung Kwan O.
Today's weather forecast: Mainly cloudy with a few showers. Isolated thunderstorms in the early part of the day, with brief sunny periods in the afternoon. The maximum temperature will be around 29°C. Light to moderate southerly to southeasterly winds.
Outlook: Hot during the daytime tomorrow (April 22). The weather will become increasingly unsettled on Thursday and Friday, with temperatures gradually dropping to around 21°C. A few showers on Saturday, remaining relatively cool in the morning.
The Observatory indicated that a trough of low pressure currently over central China will develop into a cold front in the next one to two days, gradually approaching the coastal areas of southern China. Starting Thursday (April 23), the weather in the region will become increasingly unsettled with showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures will fall later in the day. In urban areas, temperatures will range between 22 and 28 degrees. Winds will shift from southerlies at force 4 to northeasterlies at force 4.
Friday (April 24): Cloudy with occasional showers. Heavy rain and a few thunderstorms in some areas. The weather will be relatively cool, with temperatures dropping to between 21 and 24 degrees. Easterly to northeasterly winds at force 4.
Saturday (April 25): Mainly cloudy with a few showers. Isolated thunderstorms in the early part of the day. Urban temperatures will range from 22 to 26 degrees. Easterly to northeasterly winds at force 4, occasionally force 5.
Sunday (April 26): The weather will improve with sunny periods. Temperatures will rise to between 23 and 28 degrees. Easterly winds at force 3 to 4.
