The Hong Kong Observatory has indicated that a trough of low pressure currently over central China will develop into a cold front in the next one to two days and will gradually approach the coastal areas of southern China. The weather in the region is expected to become increasingly unstable on Thursday and Friday (April 23 to 24), with showers and thunderstorms. Affected by the northeast monsoon following the cold front, temperatures in Hong Kong are expected to drop to around 21 degrees Celsius on Friday.
According to the nine-day weather forecast, Hong Kong will be mainly cloudy on Thursday (April 23) with occasional showers and a few squally thunderstorms. Temperatures will fall later in the day. On Friday (April 24), the minimum temperature in the urban area will drop to 21 degrees Celsius, with relatively heavy rain in some areas and a few thunderstorms.
