Speaking at the opening ceremony of the "National Security Education Day" today (April 15), Secretary for Security Tang Ping-keung said that as of early this month, a total of 394 people have been arrested for endangering national security since the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law, of whom 208 have been prosecuted, and 180 have been convicted.
Tang reiterated that the National Security Law only targets a very small minority of those who endanger national security, and protects the rights and freedoms of the vast majority of Hong Kong people. He added that the authorities will continue to strengthen the national security system, enhance law enforcement, and continuously improve legal tools in the future.
