The "Hong Kong International Food Tasting Festival 2026" officially opened on April 3 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, running through April 7 (Tuesday). Spanning the five-day Easter holiday, the event offers residents a refreshed and immersive culinary consumption experience.

Following its successful return last year, which attracted nearly 260,000 visitors, the expo has expanded significantly in scale. This year, it brings together specialty ingredients, popular souvenirs, and authentic regional delicacies from over 50 countries and regions. With nearly 500 booths, the event showcases a diverse range of food options under the theme "taste before you buy, shop with confidence."

Exhibits cover a wide spectrum, including frozen seafood, meat and plant-based products, halal food, premium ingredients, snacks, dairy products, organic and health foods, tea beverages, grains, and a variety of alcoholic drinks. Multiple themed zones and interactive activities are also featured, positioning the expo as a major culinary highlight during the Easter holiday.

A key addition this year is the "One Belt One Road on Silk Road Pavilion," which gathers halal specialties from countries and regions along the Belt and Road. Offerings include lamb, dried fruits, and prepared dishes from Xinjiang and Guangzhou in the Chinese mainland; natural apricot products and Himalayan rock salt from Pakistan's Hunza Valley; olive oil and traditional sand-brewed coffee from Turkey; and "Osh" (pilaf), a UNESCO-recognized cultural heritage dish from Uzbekistan. The pavilion provides visitors with a one-stop opportunity to experience diverse halal culinary traditions and explore related trade opportunities.

The festival also introduces, for the first time in HK, a "popular character food & merchandise pavilion." The pavilion features well-known characters from Japan, Europe, the US, and across Asia, including Monchhichi, Snoopy, Panda Friends, and Cardcaptor Sakura. Integrating "characters × food × photo opportunities × retail," the themed zone elevates the traditional booth format, delivering a comprehensive sensory and interactive experience. A range of exclusive, event-only merchandise is also available.
