Skytrax, an international air transport research organization, has released its annual ranking of the world's best airports. Among over 560 airports globally, Hong Kong International Airport continued to climb the ranks, rising from sixth place last year to fourth place this year. The top three spots went to Singapore, Seoul Incheon, and Tokyo Haneda, in that order.
Additionally, Hong Kong Airport was honored with the "World's Best Airport" award at the Global Travel Awards 2026. This accolade was voted on by millions of travelers worldwide, recognizing organizations that demonstrate excellence in aviation infrastructure and passenger experience.
The Airport Authority stated that this recognition affirms Hong Kong Airport's commitment to maintaining rigorous security standards while actively leveraging innovative technologies to deliver an efficient and seamless airport experience for passengers.
A spokesperson noted that Hong Kong Airport has fully implemented facial recognition technology at security checkpoints, immigration channels, and boarding gates to achieve automated processes. The airport is also comprehensively upgrading all security screening lanes, replacing traditional X-ray inspection systems with computed tomography (CT) technology. Meanwhile, the upcoming Terminal 2 will adopt highly efficient security screening technologies while simultaneously enhancing other passenger service facilities.
