With the long Easter and Ching Ming Festival holiday period approaching, Hong Kong's MTR Corporation announced today (March 31) that it will enhance train services on the East Rail Line and the Airport Express from tomorrow (April 1) through next Tuesday (April 7).
Additional short-haul train services will also be added on the HK section of the high-speed rail link between HK West Kowloon and Shenzhen.
On the East Rail Line, services will be increased during certain morning and evening periods, with southbound and northbound train frequencies both set to be stepped up. This includes morning services heading to Lok Ma Chau, where the headway will be shortened from 10 minutes to approximately 6–8 minutes.
For the Airport Express, from tomorrow through Friday, the first train will depart from Hong Kong Station earlier, at 5:35 a.m. Next Tuesday, the last train from AsiaWorld-Expo Station will be delayed until 1:00 a.m.
Additionally, to facilitate residents going to pay respects at cemeteries during the Ching Ming Festival, MTR Bus Route K52A – which runs between Tuen Mun Station on the Tuen Ma Line and Tsang Tsui Columbarium – will see extended operating hours and more frequent services.
