The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) issued a special weather tip at 7:50 a.m. this morning (March 30), warning that a thunderstorm zone in western Guangdong is moving eastward and is expected to affect HK within the next two to three hours.

Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms is anticipated in some areas around midday.

The Observatory has advised the public to stay alert to changing weather conditions.

According to the HKO, a southerly airstream is currently affecting the coastal areas of Guangdong, while a thunderstorm zone is impacting western Guangdong. Additionally, a low-pressure trough is affecting central China.

The Observatory predicts that today will be mostly cloudy with a few showers, with heavier rain and occasional thunderstorms in some areas later in the day.

The maximum temperature is forecasted to reach around 27°C. Moderate southerly winds are expected, with stronger gusts over high ground.

As for the outlook, the weather is expected to become unstable later tomorrow, with a few showers persisting over the next two to three days along with brief intervals of sunshine.
