After a gap of three years and eight months, pop icon Jay Chou's 16th album, The Children of the Sun, was released digitally worldwide at midnight on March 25; the physical edition will be available April 10. On March 24, JVR Music held a global MV premiere and album press conference at a cinema, inviting 100 fans and media to experience the title single's 6-minute 58-second music video in 7.1‑channel surround sound. The video recreates 30 famous paintings with live actors, combining a suspenseful storyline and animated effects to deliver a museum‑like audiovisual feast; the premiere was streamed live worldwide on YouTube.
Jay Chou revealed that he wrote a song for his younger daughter, Jacinda, on the new album, continuing his tradition of composing for his children. Another love song MV features real footage of his marriage proposal. The album title comes from a nickname given to him by music legend Jacky Cheung. Jay said he feels "sunny inside" and hopes to convey positive energy through his music. He also said a new tour will begin soon and jokingly told fans he is considering holding a signing event on a tennis court.
