German table tennis club Saarbrucken announced on March 16 that Chinese table tennis star Fan Zhendong will transfer to Dusseldorf at the end of the current season.
In June last year, Saarbrucken welcomed Fan Zhendong to the team, marking a significant milestone in the history of European table tennis. Reflecting on this season, the club stated that signing a player of Fan's caliber has positioned them as true pioneers in the global table tennis scene, creating a historic moment for both German and European table tennis.
Fan expressed his gratitude, saying, "I want to extend my sincerest thanks to Saarbrucken for giving me this incredible opportunity. This has been a very special chapter in my career. However, at this stage of my professional journey, I am ready to take the next step. Dusseldorf is one of the strongest forces in Europe and the world, and my deep friendship with Timo Boll inspires me to embrace this new challenge."
The current season of the German table tennis Bundesliga will conclude its regular matches on April 19, with the final games scheduled for May 31.
