A suspected hand grenade was discovered this afternoon (March 11) on a hillside near 43A Stubbs Road in Mid-Levels East, prompting a swift response from the police.
Authorities received the report at approximately 1:40 p.m.
The object in question, described as being roughly the size of a lemon, led to the immediate involvement of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau (EOD) to assess and manage the situation.
The grenade was detonated safely, scattering minor debris across the hillside. No injuries were reported, and no evacuation was required.
As a precautionary measure, the Transport Department temporarily closed all lanes of Stubbs Road near Victoria Heights. The area was later reopened with single-lane two-way traffic implemented.
