According to a report by CCTV on March 8, US Energy Secretary Chris Wright dismissed allegations that the US was involved in the attack on Iran's oil industry, emphasizing, "There are no plans to target Iran's oil industry."
US media outlets have reported that the scale of the strikes was far beyond expectations. Officials are increasingly worried that Israel's actions may disrupt global markets, leading to a further surge in oil and energy prices.
Citing Reuters, CCTV stated that US President Donald Trump is considering lifting certain sanctions against Russian oil to curb rising oil prices. On March 9, Trump remarked that the attacks on Iran would conclude soon. He also acknowledged that the joint US-Israeli operation had caused market volatility and pledged to ease oil-related sanctions to stabilize prices.
Reports indicate that Trump held a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the same day to discuss the situation in Iran and other international issues. Measures under consideration include loosening restrictions on Russian oil imports and tapping into the US strategic petroleum reserves.
Additionally, Trump hinted at the possibility of "controlling" the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime chokepoint for global oil shipments.
