On March 5, the Fourth Session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) opened at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Hong Kong NPC deputy Brave Chan said the country achieved major accomplishments over the past year, and Hong Kong has also benefited from the resulting dividends and opportunities. He noted that the work report repeatedly underscores Hong Kong's unique position under "one country, two systems," "Hong Kong people administering Hong Kong," and a high degree of autonomy—strengthening confidence within Hong Kong as well as among the international community and making the city more attractive for investment and development.
Chan added that under Chief Executive John Lee's leadership, Hong Kong should accelerate planning and implementation of its five-year agenda, integrate more proactively into the country's broader development strategy and planning, and seize the significant opportunities ahead, while offering his best wishes to Hong Kong residents, especially young people.
