The Hong Kong women's football team has officially withdrawn from the "Pink Ladies Cup 2026" tournament in Dubai, citing the safety of players and staff as the top priority. The decision comes as the Middle East region experiences escalating tensions.
According to the association, the team has ceased all outdoor activities and remains sheltered at their hotel in Dubai to ensure their safety. Authorities maintain close communication with the team to monitor local developments and provide necessary assistance.
The Hong Kong women's team had arrived in Dubai days ago to participate in the tournament and were originally scheduled to return on March 8. However, they became stranded at their Dubai hotel following the sudden escalation of conflict in the region. Team captain Ma Chak-shun shared a video yesterday (March 2) to reassure everyone of their safety.
