According to CCTV News, on Feb. 24 local time, former South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol filed an appeal against the first-instance life sentence verdict for charges of sedition.
On the Feb. 19, Yoon Suk-yeol was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Seoul Central District Court for leading a rebellion. The court stated that the declaration of a state of emergency does not directly constitute sedition; however, if the intent is to incapacitate the constitutional functions, it can be deemed sedition. The court emphasized that the core issue of the case revolves around Yoon Suk-yeol's dispatching of troops to the National Assembly.
