At 8 pm on Feb. 18, the New Year fireworks display lit up the skies over Victoria Harbour. Chief Executive John Lee and his wife were in Wan Chai to watch the fireworks displays, joining hundreds of thousands of residents and tourists lining both sides of the harbour to enjoy the dazzling show and celebrate the Spring Festival.
Lee said this year's display lasted approximately 23 minutes, with a total of 31,888 fireworks bursting over Victoria Harbour. The eight-scene show incorporated horse imagery and auspicious symbols, presenting a majestic spectacle of "ten thousand horses galloping," symbolizing an auspicious start to the Year of the Horse.
In a social media post, Lee wrote that as the Year of the Horse gallops in, all Hong Kong people should work together with one heart, striving wholeheartedly for the city's prosperity and stability to jointly create a better future. Lee stated that he will lead the SAR government in striding forward courageously alongside all Hong Kong citizens, running at new speeds and achieving new accomplishments.
