Large crowds gathered along the shores of Victoria Harbour on Wednesday (Feb. 18) evening to ring in the second day of the Lunar New Year with a spectacular fireworks display, celebrating the arrival of the Year of the Horse.

The 23-minute show lit up the night sky marking the Chinese New Year.

With the theme "Prosperity Gallops Across Hong Kong", spectators were treated to breathtaking moments as high-density bursts of fireworks painted the sky with imagery of galloping horses - a powerful symbol of energy and forward momentum.

The display also featured fireworks shaped like the number eight and golden ingots, both traditional symbols of fortune and prosperity, sending heartfelt wishes for wealth and abundance in the year ahead.

The grand finale brought the evening to a thrilling close, with crown-shaped fireworks erupting overhead followed by a rapid-fire sequence of intense bursts - a final, vibrant salute meant to deliver good fortune to all who watched.

"Tonight, as that spirit of galloping forward fills the sky, we see why Hong Kong is where East meets West – where ancient traditions and modern celebrations light up the night together," Chief Executive John Lee said in a speech ahead of the show.

"To everyone here, I wish you all vitality, prosperity and happiness in the Year of the Horse," he added.
