Amid the vibrant energy of campuses and bustling streets, we interviewed people from various countries, including Germany, Nepal, and Sudan, to hear their impressions of China's younger generation.
Many interviewees consistently highlighted the emphasis Chinese youth place on education and their dedication to learning, describing them as "smarter and harder working."
When asked about negative online labels like "the lazy and spoiled generation" often associated with Chinese youth, most respondents said their personal experiences and interactions with young people in China did not align with such pessimistic stereotypes. Some expressed understanding of the societal and employment pressures behind these labels, while also encouraging young people to embrace life: "Enjoyment is important too, because you only live once."
The sense of responsibility, broad perspective, and attention to national issues demonstrated by Chinese youth also left a deep impression on the interviewees. One even offered words of encouragement: "Keep going! It's your time to lead the world now. But don't follow the path of some countries that only pursue selfish interests. I hope you'll maintain an open and inclusive mindset, striving to build a better future for all. The world is watching and following your steps."
In their eyes, Chinese youth are stepping onto a larger stage with diligence, intelligence, and vision, poised for a brighter future.
