On the streets of Hong Kong, we interviewed tourists and residents from around the world to hear their genuine impressions of the city.
Many respondents cited Hong Kong's unique status as an "Asian hub" and the remarkable contrast between its skyscrapers and the surrounding mountains and sea as major attractions. One visitor remarked, "A good mix of environment between the city and the mountains and the beaches."
Beyond the world-famous skyline and Victoria Harbour, foreign visitors emphasized Hong Kong's rich cultural diversity, blending modern metropolitan life with deep-rooted Chinese traditions and Western heritage. While communication can be challenging, particularly in areas like Kowloon, most found Hongkongers to be friendly and eager to assist lost travelers. The convenience of public transport and the city's cleanliness also impressed many first-time visitors.
Looking ahead to 2026, respondents shared their wishes and encouragement, "Hopefully it stays the same and keeps improving," and "Keep doing what you (Hong Kong)'re doing."
These international voices paint a picture of a vibrant and welcoming Asia's World City, hoping that Hong Kong will continue to showcase its distinct allure and attract travelers from around the globe.
