The Tourism Board on Sunday (Feb. 15) said Hong Kong saw a near 1.5 percent rise in total tourist arrivals last month compared with a year ago.

It said there were more than 4.8 million overall arrivals in January, boosted by stronger non-mainland tourist figures.

Non-mainland arrivals jumped 15 percent to nearly 1.2 million, with a surge of nearly 29 percent in long-haul visitor arrivals to 280,000.

Meanwhile, mainland visitors last month dipped by a little more than two percent, but the board noted that back in 2025, the Lunar New Year was in January, and that might have been a reason why last year's numbers were higher.
