Seedance 2.0, ByteDance's AI video generation model, has recently gone viral upon its launch, thanks to its "director-level" video output quality. Users can generate coherent multi-shot videos in just two seconds, with synchronized dialogue, sound effects, and background music, making it ideal for creators of short dramas, anime, and advertisements.

Driven by this positive development, the A-share media sector surged with a wave of limit-up gains yesterday (Feb. 10), including nearly 20 stocks hitting the daily limit-up, while film and television stocks also followed suit. However, video editing professionals lamented that they may face unemployment in the future.

Currently, Seedance 2.0 is in a limited global beta testing phase. A Wen Wei Po reporter observed on the Seedance 2.0 official website that the product primarily targets overseas users, supporting eight language conversions, including English, Chinese, and French. It is currently in a free trial phase (requiring point consumption), allowing users to convert text or images into videos. No related app is yet available in the Chinese mainland mobile app market.

According to its official website, Seedance 2.0 is an AI video generator powered by Seedance 2 AI video technology. Its significance lies in its ability to achieve lightning-fast text-to-video and image-to-video conversions. Key advantages include rapid generation speed, with videos generated in about two seconds; consistency guaranteed by the Seedance 2.0 model; support for 100 languages; and the ability to preserve original layouts "quickly and accurately." In terms of pricing, the enterprise annual version is offered at a 50% discount, with the original price of US$99 per month (approximately 684.35 yuan) reduced to a promotional price of US$49.9 (approximately 344.94 yuan).

From the perspective of industry professionals, Seedance 2.0 is expected to see widespread adoption in short-form content areas such as AI-generated comics and duanju (short dramas). Currently, the short drama and comic drama industries are in a phase of rapid development, but traditional production models face challenges such as high costs, long cycles, and limited capacity. The emergence of Seedance 2.0 will significantly reduce production costs, shorten production cycles, and release industry capacity, thereby expanding the entire industrial chain. For corporate marketers, Seedance 2.0 can be used to generate promotional videos, quickly conveying product information to target audiences. For general users, Seedance 2.0 can meet creative needs, such as making personal videos or editing images. Its free trial and support for multiple languages lowers the barrier to entry, allowing more people to experience the fun of AI video generation.

Tim Pan, founder of the channel Mediastorm, released a hands-on test video that quickly sparked widespread discussion online, further pushing the model into the mainstream. He highly praised Seedance 2.0's technical performance, noting its breakthrough progress in video detail, camera motion smoothness, shot continuity, and audio-visual synchronization. He called it "the AI that will change the video industry."

Amid the praise, an unexpected discovery left Pan exclaiming in shock: by simply uploading a photo of his face without providing any audio files or related prompts, Seedance 2.0 automatically generated a voice highly similar to his own, accurately matching his tone and characteristics.

Due to its striking realism, some netizens expressed concerns about potential confusion with reality. ByteDance responded on the beta testing platform, saying that it is urgently optimizing the product based on feedback. For now, uploading real-person photos or videos is not supported. The company emphasized that creativity must respect boundaries and that it will officially launch the product in a more refined form after adjustments.

A Chinese self-media user focused on investment reporting commented, "I feel like both my editor friend and I are about to lose our jobs... I just tried Seedance 2.0, today's hottest trend, and I think it's an AI that could revolutionize the video industry—it's astonishing. I used Seedance 2.0 to generate a video from some of my historical footage and today's stock market closing report. Even my family and friends couldn't tell it was made by AI."

Yesterday, driven by Seedance 2.0, the hottest sector in the A-share market was the media sector, with nearly 20 stocks, including COL Group, IReader Technology, and Wasu Media, hitting the daily limit-up. Meanwhile, some film and television stocks also followed the upward trend. AI application themes saw across-the-board gains, with stocks related to duanju games, virtual humans, and cybersecurity also rising broadly.
