As the Chinese New Year approaches, employees often look forward to year-end bonuses. Cathay Pacific CEO Ronald Lam announced in an internal letter to staff yesterday (Feb. 4) that the airline plans to distribute profit-sharing bonuses for 2025 that will exceed the equivalent of 6.2 weeks' salary, a significant increase over the 2024 payout.
Lam highlighted that 2025 marks Cathay Pacific's 80th anniversary, and the company has maintained robust business momentum throughout the year. At the start of the year, Cathay Pacific also established a clear five-year roadmap.
One of the company's key milestones will be the announcement of its 2025 financial results next month, which are expected to outperform 2024's results.
The CEO emphasized that the company will share its success with employees through the profit-sharing scheme. Besides solid financial performance, Cathay's customer net promoter score (cNPS) has reached a record high of +34.8 in 2025, contributing a 7% multiplier effect to the profit-sharing bonus.
Lam stressed the importance of sustaining growth momentum while laying the foundation for long-term development. Over HK$100 billion will be invested this year to enhance customer experience and reinforce Hong Kong's position as a leading international aviation hub.
As the company transitions into a more normalized growth phase, rigorous cost management will be implemented to build a resilient and sustainable business rooted in safety and operational excellence.
