The Hong Kong Observatory reported that the northeast monsoon is maintaining its influence over the coastal areas of Guangdong, leading to chilly weather this morning (Feb. 2) as temperatures in many parts of HK dropped to around 13°C.
The Observatory stated that the northeast monsoon will continue to affect Guangdong's coastal regions today. While the morning remains relatively cool, the weather is expected to be generally fine and sunny, with dry conditions during the day and a maximum temperature of about 21°C.
Moderate northeast winds will prevail, becoming occasionally fresh later.
As the northeast monsoon is gradually replaced by an easterly airstream, temperatures along the southern China coast are expected to rise in the middle to latter part of the week, accompanied by increasingly humid weather.
However, another northeast monsoon is forecast to affect southern China over the weekend, bringing cooler conditions to the region in the following one or two days.
The Observatory's outlook for the next two to three days predicts intervals of sunshine, with cool mornings. Both Thursday and Friday are expected to be warm during the day.
