Looking for divine help to find your soulmate? The newly unveiled Yue Lao (Matchmaker God) Hall at Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple is now open, drawing crowds of hopeful worshippers seeking romantic blessings. Visitors have been participating in the "red thread binding" ritual, pressing their palms together in prayer with red threads symbolizing fate. Even more exciting, the temple has announced a series of themed events for Valentine's Day (Feb. 14) and the Lantern Festival (March 3), along with limited-edition cultural and creative products, extending the "matchmaking fever"!

The Yue Lao Hall originated from the statues of the Yue Lao and the "Perfect Couple" enshrined in 2011. Due to aging facilities, the hall was rebuilt at its original location in the Fung Ming Hall Plaza last year, a project that took nearly ten months to complete. The new hall blends traditional and modern aesthetics, featuring a glass exterior that enhances natural lighting. Adorned with auspicious red knots on the walls and a ceiling caisson painted with clouds, dragons, phoenixes, and double happiness motifs, the hall creates a culturally rich atmosphere for romantic prayers. A couplet inside reads: "Before the Yue Lao Hall, the golden boy ties the vow of three lifetimes; Beside Fung Ming Hall, the jade girl joins hands for a hundred generations of love."

Focusing on promoting Yue Lao culture, the temple's upcoming Valentine's Day and Lantern Festival events are highly anticipated. These activities will integrate festive elements, allowing worshippers to immerse themselves in the blend of traditional celebrations and matchmaking culture. Simultaneously, a range of creative products will be launched, including the "Heart-Moon Bond" bracelets, couple leather bracelets, and Yue Lao ledger-themed figurines—all embodying the belief that "fate connects two hearts across a thousand miles." These items are expected to be popular choices. Worshipper Ms. Zhang expressed her excitement, saying, "I will come with my boyfriend to buy matching bracelets as a keepsake."

Notably, couples can also apply to hold legally recognized Taoist wedding ceremonies in the hall. The rituals include traditional elements such as bowing to heaven and earth and sharing a ceremonial wine cup. The ceremonies are overseen by Sik Sik Yuen's Superintendent, Lee Yiu-fai. The new hall has already hosted its first wedding ceremony earlier this year.
