As we enter 2026, the long-distance running events beloved by citizens are taking place one after another, including today's "Henderson Land x Pok Oi Central Harbourfront Charity Run 2026" and last week's annual highlight, the "Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2026". The charity run's opening ceremony was held today (Jan. 25), where Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law humorously noted that she has officiated the start of running events for two consecutive Sunday mornings, saying, "This shows that Hong Kong citizens truly have a strong sporting spirit and interest in running!"

As we enter 2026, the long-distance running events beloved by citizens are taking place one after another.

Rosanna Law mentioned that the funds raised from this year's event will be used not only for the construction of the Pok Oi Hospital's Tuen Mun Elderly Care and Nursing Home but also to support the reconstruction and assistance projects for the Tai Po fire, genuinely benefiting people in different needs within the community.

Law highlighted that the race route passed through several attractions and landmarks in the heart of Central. With the Eastern segment of the North Point East Coast Boardwalk officially opened on Jan. 29 last month, the harbourfront promenade is now fully operational, stretching approximately 13 kilometers from Kennedy Town to Shau Kei Wan, allowing citizens and tourists to enjoy the beautiful views of Victoria Harbour. She added that along the route, there are shared paths, tiered seating, recreational spaces, fitness facilities, and fishing platforms to meet the various needs of the public. Additionally, there are pedestrian-only paths designed for pet owners, allowing them to enjoy the waterfront facilities together with their pets—a perfect place for relaxation and fitness. Law encouraged everyone to make full use of these new facilities, engage in active exercise, strengthen their bodies, and establish a healthy lifestyle.

Rosanna Law forecasted that a series of sporting events would follow this year, such as the "Longines Hong Kong International Horse Show 2026" and the "World Snooker Grand Prix", hoping these exciting programs would bring more joy and positive energy to citizens and tourists alike.
