This morning, temperatures in the urban areas of HK dropped to approximately 11–12°C. (DDN)

The Cold Weather Warning is now in effect. The Hong Kong Observatory announced today (Jan. 8) that the winter monsoon is currently affecting the coast of Guangdong, resulting in cold weather across the region.

This morning, temperatures in the urban areas of HK dropped to approximately 11–12°C. Due to clear skies and significant radiation cooling, some parts of the New Territories saw temperatures plunge below 7°C.

The Observatory predicts that under the continued influence of the dry winter monsoon, Guangdong will experience generally clear and cold mornings over the next two days. As the monsoon weakens slightly over the weekend, temperatures in southern China are expected to rise slightly, though mornings will remain cool.
