Since its release on New Year's Eve, the film Back to the Past has swept across Hong Kong, achieving remarkable box office success and marking a historic milestone. As of January 5, the total box office in Hong Kong and Macao has reached HK$45.45 million over six days, officially breaking the record for the highest first-week box office of any Cantonese film in Hong Kong and ranking as the top opener for both Hong Kong and Chinese-language films. By January 6, the cumulative box office in Hong Kong and Macao surpassed HK$48 million, reaching nearly HK$48.47 million.
Riding on this box office momentum, director and lead actor Louis Koo attended a thank you event for fans in cosplay last night (Jan. 6), where he interacted closely with dedicated fans who had come dressed as characters from the film.
The atmosphere at the thank-you event was extremely enthusiastic, with over 300 attendees. Many fans thoughtfully dressed as characters from the movie, including one who even transformed into a terracotta warrior. Upon entering the theater, Koo was pleasantly surprised to see a large number of "people from the Qin Dynasty" and praised the creativity of the fans' cosplay. He personally selected the winner for the best costume, which heightened the excitement among the fans present.
