Hong Kong Box Office Limited announced that the total box office revenue for local theaters last year was approximately HK$1.13148 billion, representing a nearly 16% decline compared to the box office revenue in 2024.
The top-grossing film of the year was the Japanese animated movie Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle, while the highest-grossing Hong Kong film was the local animated feature Another World, which earned HK$15.12 million, roughly one-tenth of the 2024 box office leader The Last Dance.
The second-highest-grossing Hong Kong film last year was The Way We Talk, accumulating a box office of HK$13.52 million, while the third was Peg O' My Heart, which garnered HK$12.70 million.
Hong Kong Box Office Limited stated that it is encouraging to note that the Hong Kong film Back to the Past broke the record for the highest opening day box office for both Hong Kong and Chinese films, earning HK$10.92 million on its opening day, making it the second highest opening box office for any film released in Hong Kong.
