The much-anticipated Hong Kong film "Back to the Past" premiered in HK and Macao on Dec. 31, setting a record with 1,460 screenings on its opening day.
The film was screened so frequently that some theaters scheduled showings every 15 minutes, earning comparisons to the frequency of bus services.
Living up to expectations, the film smashed the opening-day box office record for HK-produced films in the region, surpassing the HK$7.46 million set by "The Last Dance".
The film now holds the title for the highest opening-day box office in HK cinema history, marking a new milestone in the industry.
