Following the devastating five-alarm fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, 65 of the 79 injured individuals have recovered and been discharged from public hospitals, according to the Health Bureau. The remaining 14 patients are in stable condition, with full medical care ongoing.

To support affected residents, the government has mobilized all 18 district health centers (DHCs) across the city. These centers have coordinated free medical services, including family doctor consultations, Chinese medicine clinics, and dental services, with over 300 private doctors and 360 Chinese medicine practitioners participating. A new dental prosthetic service was also launched, with over 80 dentists providing treatment.

All medical fees for residents of the eight blocks in Wang Fuk Court—including foreign domestic workers—are fully waived until the end of 2026. The Hospital Authority has already served over 1,600 residents with medical aid since the fire.

In terms of mental health support, the "Open Up" and 24-hour Mental Health Support Hotline (18111) have seen a surge in demand. Since the incident, over 8,300 calls have been received, including more than 660 fire-related cases, with 89 routed to psychiatric nurses for serious mental health assessments and referrals.

The Health Bureau continues to emphasize a resident-centric approach, aiming to streamline access to care through the DHCs without requiring residents to travel across districts.
