According to United Daily News, a random killing incident occurred in Taipei City last night (Dec. 19), with the 27-year-old perpetrator falling from a building.

Some have questioned whether he committed suicide out of guilt after being surrounded by the police. However, an employee at the Eslite Bookstore Xinyi Store, located at the scene, revealed that the area where he fell was a recycling yard typically filled with cardboard boxes. Before the incident, the boxes had been stacked to the height of an adult's head, leading to suspicion that the perpetrator had previously surveyed the terrain and intended to escape by jumping from that point. Unexpectedly, the cardboard boxes had been cleared away just yesterday.

Last night, an Eslite employee disclosed that the perpetrator might have conducted a site inspection beforehand, intending to escape by jumping from the rooftop onto the cardboard boxes. However, "the cardboard boxes were all cleared away today (referring to the incident date, Dec. 19)."

The employee did not believe the perpetrator committed suicide out of guilt, stating, "When I disposed of the cardboard waste yesterday (referring to Dec. 18), the pile of boxes was already up to my head height. Perhaps he intended to jump onto the boxes but didn't know they had been cleared away, leaving so few."

Another netizen, who was shopping at the Xinyi Store last night, had a close encounter with the perpetrator. She mentioned that upon arriving, the perpetrator was waving a knife at the entrance. Following the crowd, she was chased upstairs while the perpetrator stood on the escalator on the first floor.

"At first, I thought he was a police officer," she said. According to her, others around shouted that the perpetrator had a knife, prompting a group of people to hurriedly run upstairs. "I was the last one on the escalator—it really scared me to death! Fortunately, he didn't chase us immediately. If he had, I would have been stabbed."
