The funeral for 37-year-old firefighter Ho Wai-ho, who tragically lost his life while battling a five-alarm fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po on Nov. 26, was held with full departmental honors today (Dec. 19). A vigil had been held yesterday (Dec. 18) at the Universal Funeral in Hung Hom.
The official ceremonies took place both inside the funeral home's main hall and outdoors. Following the service, the hearse departed from the funeral home and traveled along Tai Po Tai Wo Road, Po Heung Street, Kwong Fuk Road, and Tai Po Road-Yuen Chau Tsai to Wang Fuk Court for a roadside tribute. It then proceeded to Sha Tin Fire Station, where Fire Services Director Joseph Yung led firefighters in a final salute as the procession passed. The coffin was subsequently taken to Gallant Garden for burial.
The atmosphere was solemn and respectful. A DotDotNews reporter at the cemetery observed that Chief Executive John Lee and the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region had laid white floral tributes in honor of the fallen hero.
