The verdict for the case involving Jimmy Lai, founder of Next Digital, and three affiliated companies of Apple Daily, accused of conspiring to collude with foreign forces, was announced on Dec. 15. Lai was found guilty on two charges of conspiring to collude with external forces to endanger national security and a charge of conspiracy to publish seditious materials by the High Court of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
According to on-site observations, Lai was escorted to the courtroom by correctional officers, dressed in a khaki suit jacket, a green shirt, and black-framed glasses. He entered the courtroom walking steadily without any need for assistance. Overall, Lai appeared to be in normal condition, showing no signs of the frailty or weakness reported in earlier claims.
