Many Hong Kong residents choose to travel to Japan during holidays, while some consider Japan a potential option for immigration. However, recently, a Hongkonger who immigrated to Japan posted online, listing nine major challenges of living in Japan, claiming that only those who have passed these "tests" are suitable for immigration plans.

The poster suggested that before moving to Japan, one should take a "Japan living simulation test": "If you can still smile after enduring the following nine points, it indicates that you are suitable for living in Japan."

In the post, the author stated that the rules in Japan are complicated. When renting a place, one must first find a Japanese person to act as a guarantor. If it's difficult to find someone who meets the requirements, one may need to pay tens of thousands of yen to a guarantor company. Moreover, landlords may directly refuse to rent to foreigners upon seeing them.

Additionally, Japan has very strict rules for waste sorting. After finishing a plastic beverage bottle, one must separate the cap, the label, and the bottle body, and wash them before disposal. Different types of garbage are collected on different days.

Opening a bank account in Japan is also quite complicated. Banks require a phone number, but telecom companies demand a bank account to issue a number, creating a seemingly endless loop. Even if one succeeds in obtaining a number, bank staff will state that "according to the law, accounts cannot be opened unless you have resided for at least six months."

Furthermore, the author listed challenges such as "reading air pressure tests," "long journeys to see a doctor," and "the rollercoaster of permanent residency," indicating that if one can pass all the above tests, they possess the potential to be a "workhorse in Japan" and are then ready to fill out the necessary immigration forms.

The post sparked heated discussions among netizens, with some arguing that Japan is not suitable for long-term living or immigration: "Japan is only suitable for tourism, not for work or long stays," and "Completely spot on," while others added that enduring these challenges is like becoming emotionally numb.
