The WTT Finals Hong Kong 2025 are underway at the Hong Kong Coliseum from December 10 to 14. On the evening of December 12, the much-anticipated match in the mixed doubles group stage saw the "Shatou" duo—Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha—take on Hong Kong's local favorites Wong Chun-ting and Doo Hoi Kem.
In a thrilling five-game battle, Wang and Sun narrowly claimed victory with a 3-2 scoreline. The game scores were 9–11, 11–5, 11–4, 1–11, and 12–10.
When asked by DotDotNews about how the duo managed to adjust after a heavy 1–11 loss in the fourth game and a nail-biting decider, Wang Chuqin responded:
"We fought hard for every point in the fourth game but still fell behind. So we had to shift our focus and strategize for the next one. In the fifth game, we did better in the finer details and predicted some of their shots well."
Wang emphasized that a 1–11 game loss is normal in competition and that such fluctuations should be accepted as part of the process. He also praised Wong Chun-ting and Doo Hoi Kem for their outstanding performance, noting that they played even better than usual and deserved full recognition.
Earlier in the afternoon, Wang Chuqin defeated French player Alexis Lebrun 4–1 in the men's singles quarterfinals. He said it was not their first meeting and that he had thoroughly studied Lebrun's matches.
"I'm quite familiar with his style. I prepared well for this match, and my positive mindset and control over the rhythm definitely helped," Wang said.
