According to reports from the Hong Kong newspaper Ta Kung Pao, citing Reuters and Bloomberg, Elon Musk, the founder of the American electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla, recently stated that if he could go back in time, he would not join the "Department of Government Efficiency" (DOGE) again and would instead focus on his own company's work.

In an interview on December 9 with the podcast hosted by former DOGE spokesperson Miller, Musk was asked whether he would be willing to lead DOGE again if he could return to the beginning of this year. After a moment of contemplation, Musk sighed and said he would not. He remarked, "Basically, I would continue working at my company, so they wouldn't be setting cars on fire."

Since US President Trump took office in January, Musk has led DOGE, significantly reducing federal employees. He has also meddled in the politics of European countries, supporting far-right parties, actions that have provoked strong dissatisfaction from the public in North America and Europe. Protesters in multiple countries have demonstrated outside Tesla showrooms, engaging in acts of vandalism and arson against Tesla vehicles and charging stations. As a result, Tesla's stock price saw a significant drop until Musk announced his departure from DOGE in May, after which it began to recover.

Additionally, Musk's company SpaceX is planning to conduct an Initial Public Offering (IPO), aiming to raise $30 billion and is expected to go public in the latter half of next year, with a target valuation of up to US$15 trillion. Musk could potentially become the first billionaire with a "trillion" dollar net worth.

On December 11, TIME magazine announced that Musk, along with AI industry leaders such as OpenAI CEO Samuel Harris Altman, Facebook founder Mark Elliot Zuckerberg, AMD CEO Lisa Su, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, and AI pioneer Li Feifei, were named "The Architects of AI," receiving the title of person of the year 2025. Experts believe this highlights how AI and its associated companies are rapidly reshaping society.
