The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong officially began operations today (Dec. 11). After inspecting the service operations on its opening day, Executive Director Bian Zhaoxiang stated that the hospital's overall operational processes were smooth, and it aims to provide one-stop medical services through a focus on traditional Chinese medicine alongside Western collaborative methods.
Bian noted that the hospital will offer both outpatient and day inpatient services, launching six major specialties to provide targeted service models. Appointments have been available since November 1, and the overall booking situation has been very popular. Due to government funding, the first month's quota has been filled, prompting the hospital to double the available slots, with a 30% increase in capacity starting today. Currently, 80% of the appointments for specialized services have been booked.
Bian mentioned that in addition to providing medical services, the hospital will offer internship opportunities for students from the University of Hong Kong, Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Baptist University, aiming to cultivate more clinical medical talent in Hong Kong. Moreover, the hospital will host open days on January 17 and 18, 2026, and citizens can make online reservations for public visits starting today.
In response to the Tai Po fire, Bian stated that the hospital will provide government-funded free daytime outpatient and clinical services to affected residents until November 31, 2026.
