The eighth Legislative Council election of the Hong Kong SAR was held on Dec. 7, with the full list of 90 elected members announced this morning (Dec. 8).
According to Legislative Council data as of October this year, the average age of current legislators stands at 55.
Calculating based solely on the 87 members whose ages are known, the average age of the new legislature drops to 50.9, approximately 4 years younger than the current term.
Among the new Legislative Council members, the youngest is 31-year-old Vivian Kong from the tourism sector, while the oldest is 67-year-old Chan Siu-hang from the electoral committee sector.
The district direct elections produced the most young faces, with five members in their thirties.
