Insurance Authority Chief Executive Clement Cheung stated today (Dec. 8) that among the insurance policies related to the fire that the authority's task force has currently identified, there are approximately 10,000 life insurance policies and 1,800 property and accident insurance policies. Both categories involve 35 insurance companies each, and it is believed that the number of policies has largely stabilized.
Cheung mentioned that the task force began the next phase of its work last Friday (Dec. 5), directly contacting policyholders. He described the work as challenging, noting that some individuals hold multiple policies, with the primary reference being the policyholder's address. He added that the compensation figures are changing rapidly, and the total amount of compensation will not be disclosed for the time being.
Insurance Authority Chairman Stephen Yiu stated that handling matters related to the fire is the top priority for the Insurance Authority, and they will actively coordinate with the industry and the Insurance Industry Federation.
