Recently, CCTV News reported a case involving counterfeit milk powder, revealing that 14 brands of imported milk powder were fake. The counterfeit products claimed to be imported but were actually manufactured in a rented apartment in the Chinese Mainland, allowing the suspects to profit RMB 6.5 million.
Police arrested 12 suspects and seized a large amount of production equipment and raw materials, exposing a dark industry chain that endangers consumer health.
According to CCTV News, testing by a professional organization revealed that the so-called "imported milk powder" dissolved quickly in water and contained large amounts of maltodextrin, with nearly no fat or protein—key nutritional components. Experts noted that these counterfeit milk powders were primarily made from "creamer," offering almost no nutritional value and being harmful to consumer health.
Three main suspects were sentenced to 15 years in prison for producing and selling substandard products, and over ten other suspects involved have been transferred to the prosecution for legal action.
