On Nov. 26, a No. 5 fire occurred at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, resulting in serious casualties. The Director of Social Welfare, Edward To, stated today (Dec. 4) in a radio program that over 1,600 affected households have registered for the "one social worker per household" service. Each social worker will provide their mobile numbers to residents so that they can contact them at any time, including outside office hours. In addition to the social workers, each household will also have 2 to 3 civil servants assisting them.
To mentioned that the "one social worker per household" service primarily offers emotional support, psychological counseling, and temporary care services for the elderly and disabled. The additional civil servants will accompany residents when needed, such as escorting those who require follow-up medical appointments. He explained that the teams of social workers and civil servants work together to assist residents and minimize their burden while facilitating the dissemination of information.
To emphasized the importance of fully supporting the social welfare needs of every affected household, describing the "one social worker per household" service as indefinite, with ongoing support provided.
