In solemn mourning for the victims of the fire at Tai Po's Wang Fuk Court, the SAR government will hold a period of mourning. From Nov. 29 to Dec. 1, the national flag and the regional flag will be flown at half-mast at all government buildings and facilities across Hong Kong (including the SAR government's overseas offices).
During this period, principal officials will cancel all non-essential public activities. All entertainment and celebratory events organized or funded by the government will also be cancelled or postponed as appropriate.
Chief Executive John Lee, along with principal officials, non-official members of the Executive Council, and civil servants, will observe a three-minute silence tomorrow (Nov. 29) at 8:00 AM at the Central Government Offices to mourn the tragic loss of life in the fire.
During the mourning period, the Home Affairs Department will set up condolence stations in all 18 districts for members of the public to sign condolence books and express their profound grief for the deceased. The condolence books will be available for signing from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1, between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM.
