The No. 5 fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, which has been ongoing for over a day, has claimed a total of 94 lives as of today (Nov. 28) at 6 am, including one firefighter who lost their life in the line of duty. A total of 76 people are being treated by the Fire Services Department, including 11 firefighters. The fire has largely been extinguished, and the Fire Services is conducting search and rescue operations.
The Fire Services Department stated that they will continue to address the remaining 25 cases of assistance and expect to complete the forced entry search of all units in seven buildings by 9 am.
Firefighting efforts have mostly been completed. During the late night and early morning hours, firefighters arrived at four units that were still burning to extinguish the flames and continued to spray water on other units to lower temperatures and prevent a rekindling of the fire. By morning, no flames were visible at the scene.
