A deadly No. 5 fire broke out at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, resulting in multiple casualties. The flames have been burning for over 24 hours without being completely extinguished. This afternoon (Nov. 27), Chief Executive John Lee, along with relevant officials, held a media briefing to follow up on the fire.
Lee expressed gratitude for the high level of attention given to the incident by President Xi Jinping, noting that various mainland units have expressed their willingness to provide support.
"I am very grateful to them," he said.
He mentioned that the SAR government is drafting a list of large-scale supplies and support, hoping that mainland units will assist. The supplies include survey drones, tools to help firefighters climb multi-level staircases, transportation belts, medical "thawing agents," burn treatment supplies, and laboratory testing materials, among others.
