The "Ancient Egypt Unveiled: Treasures from Egyptian Museums," held at the Hong Kong Palace Museum, has been a great success, driving a surge in demand for related merchandise.
Many citizens have visited the exhibition out of their love for ancient Egyptian civilization, and after viewing, they flocked to the museum shop to make purchases. Ms. Lam bought nearly 10 blind boxes for her friends, spending over HK$1,500. She believes one reason for the popularity of the exhibition's merchandise is that the products align with trends, such as the release of popular blind boxes.
Also purchasing blind boxes was Ms. Kwok, who expressed her satisfaction with the products, as she opened the box to find the pharaoh she wanted. She finds it special to see ancient figures cartoonized, and each figurine holds its own meaning, such as representing family, which adds significance. In addition to blind boxes, she was interested in buying a plush pharaoh cat but found it sold out; she also does not plan to pay inflated prices.
Mr. Wong and Ms. Kwong, who are interested in ancient Egyptian civilization, had booked their tickets for today well in advance. Before visiting the exhibition, they browsed the shop on the ground floor but did not purchase anything. They felt that the products were just "ordinary items" and did not spark their interest in buying: "Perhaps we just don't like collecting such things."
