The Secretary for the Environment and Ecology, Tse Chin-wan, along with the Managing Director of Hong Kong Electric Company (HK Electric), Francis Cheng, and the President of China Light and Power Company (CLP), Joseph Law, held a joint press conference today (Nov. 18) to announce the electricity fee adjustments for the two power companies in 2026.
CLP announced that the average net electricity fee will decrease by 2.6% in 2026. The base tariff will increase from 98 cents per kWh to 101.2 cents, while the fuel adjustment cost will decrease from 46.3 cents per kWh to 39.4 cents. The net electricity fee will be 140.6 cents per kWh, a reduction of 3.7 cents or 2.6% year-on-year.
Similarly, HK Electric's base tariff will rise from 122.9 cents per kWh to 127.9 cents, while the fuel adjustment cost will decrease from 44.1 cents per kWh to 35.4 cents, resulting in a net electricity fee of 163.3 cents per kWh, also reflecting a decrease of 3.7 cents or 2.2% year-on-year.
