Across China's university campuses, a growing number of international students are choosing to study, grow, and shape their futures here. In this feature, we speak with three young people from different corners of the world: Saki from Japan, Phusanisa Silamongkol from Thailand, and Bagtyyar Shajykov, known by his Chinese name Xiao Wang, from Turkmenistan.
Each of them came to China for different reasons — whether it was a fascination with Chinese culture, the allure of a fast-growing economy, or the appeal of high-quality education. In candid conversations, they shared their experiences of learning Chinese, connecting with local people, adapting to new customs, and navigating everyday life. From discovering new foods and riding high-speed trains, to reflecting on language barriers and warm interactions with Chinese "dancing aunties," their stories offer a vivid, human perspective on studying abroad in China.
Through their eyes, we see a side of China that goes beyond headlines and statistics — a country full of opportunity, warmth, diversity, and discovery.
