National Games: HK's swimmer Siobhán Haughey triumphs with first place in heat in her debut

The 15th National Games is underway, and today (Nov. 12), five gold medals will be awarded in swimming events. Siobhán made a strong debut, finishing first in her heat with a time of 1:58.98, placing third overall, and successfully advancing to tonight's semifinals.

The 13-year-old rising star, Yu Zidi, who set a new Asian record in the women's 200-meter individual medley last night, performed steadily, finishing eighth with a time of 1:59.49, and also secured a spot in the semifinals.

In addition to Siobhán, another Hong Kong athlete, Gilaine Ma, also advanced. Ma ranked 16th in the preliminaries with a time of 2:00.78, earning her a place in the semifinals.

The women's 200-meter freestyle semifinals will take place as scheduled tonight at 8:04 pm.
