On Nov. 9, at the lighting ceremony of the main torch for the 15th National Games opening ceremony, Guo Jingjing, who has won four Olympic gold medals and 31 world championships in diving, and Wang Xinyu, who won a silver medal in mixed doubles tennis at the 33rd Olympic Games, served as the third torchbearer.
On Nov. 10, Guo Jingjing posted on social media, stating, "The opening ceremony of the 15th National Games was a complete success! The atmosphere on-site was incredibly lively and exhilarating!" She further mentioned that being a torchbearer for the National Games made her "really proud and deeply moved," emphasizing that the torch's light, passed through her hands, connects the shared heritage of the three regions (Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao). "Sports connect us, bring us closer, and show the world the vitality and confidence of China. I wish every athlete shines on the field and surpasses themselves."
Additionally, when asked about Guo Jingjing serving as a torchbearer for the National Games, the President of the National Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, Timothy Fok, smiled and said, "Oh, she didn't even tell me!" expressing his surprise. He stated that Guo Jingjing is not only his family member but also represents the Olympic spirit.
